WALK THE MOON - ANNA SUN
Costumes are a very big part in this music video to give the party vibe that the group are trying to convey. The lead singer is wearing a plain white t-shirt with some blue jeans, although this gives a scruffy feel to him, it also shows that there is a relaxed atmosphere to the party in general. The other characters at the party are wearing what looks to be like 80s clothing which is very brightly coloured, this shows that there will be a lot of dancing and fun throughout the video. There are two settings to this video, the party scene which seems like it is in an empty house and a forest and field setting where the outdoor party is set. This is conventional for an indie music video, as it shows diversity in the music video, this is also something that we would like to use within our own video, to keep the viewer interested in our music video. There is mainly natural lighting throughout the video, however there is some artificial lighting used within the party scene, where the dancers are holding the neon light strips. This connotes a fun and club like feel to the whole video, this is also something we would like to use within our video when the performance aspect is being shown. Towards the end of the video, we see the dancers using bright coloured paint to put on their face, they also put the paint onto the lead singers face, and this again shows a care-free environment where everybody enjoys themselves.
MISE EN SCENE

At the beginning of the video, we think that it is a home recording due to the quality of the video and how it is shot from slightly below and close up, it then goes into a tracking shot where the camera follows the lead singer throughout the whole party, this shows the audience all aspects of the party and just how much fun he is having, making the audience want to be there with him. As well as this, there is panning used to show the full extent of the party environment again to show the care-free atmosphere. There are close ups used throughout the video of the lead singer when he is lip syncing, this makes the audience believe he is actually singing, and also to show the emotion on his face of how much he is enjoying the party. This is conventional for the singer(s) to have lots of close ups within the indie genre, we want to keep this convention but change it slightly as we don’t want to show the band members faces but only parts of their body, to give a mysterious feel to our music video.
CAMERA WORK

Throughout the video there is a lot of speed manipulation used, whether it is used to make the footage faster or slower to add benefit to the song, for example, when we see the neon lights being used and the lead singer has the keyboard around his neck, there is a moment when the footage is quickened up and then slowed down again when he leans into the camera. This is conventional for the indie genre to use speed manipulation and is something that we will consider using in our own video. There is also a fade used when the setting changes from the party atmosphere to the outdoor setting to give a whimsical and mysterious feel. While the outdoor setting is being shown, the dancers have close ups of their face with the bright paint on them, we see quick cuts here to show just how many people are at the party.
